My name is David Hutchinson and I live and work in the Wakefield/South Leeds area. I have been a person centred counsellor since qualifying seven year ago and since then have gained a vast amount of experience working in private practice and also for:
Riverside ECHG - Counselling clients fleeing domestic violence
Leeds MIND - Counselling clients with differing complex issues
Yorkshire MESMAC - Counselling gay, bi-sexual men, men who have sex with men, lesbian and trans people. Also the female partners of men who have sex with men.
I work in a person centred way both in my counselling practice and also my supervision work.
The person centred approach is based on:
The belief that the relationship between counsellor and client is central to the healing process.
A belief that the client is the expert on their life and will know how to help themselves (albeit unconscious).
My qualifications for the purpose of counselling and supervision are:
University of Bradford - Diploma in Person Centred Counselling and Human Relations - 2005
Leeds Metropolitan University - Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Counselling - 2008
Temenos College - Postgraduate Certificate in Person-Centred Supervision - 2010
I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Counsellor / Psychotherapist.
Also on the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP) Registered Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist
